The Editor

The editor’s main responsibility is to assemble ram material into a finished article ready for broadcasting. (http://www.prospects.ac.uk/film_video_editor_job_description.htm 5/10/2011) They would have to work with raw camara footage, diologe, graphics and special effects and turn that into a presentable production. The scenes might all be mixed up as the director decided to film all the scenes for each setting all at once. Therefore it is the editor’s responsibility to put all those scenes into the correct order, watch the video’s again to make sure no mistakes were made and make sure the production is fit for broadcast. The editor needs to work closely with the director in order to receive the desired result. The editor’s role is instrumental in the movie making process as it is based on his ability whether a production looks professional or not; it is the editor’s skill that determines the quality of the finished production.
