Film Noir- Extra Taks- Sound effects

Gun Shot

The gun shot (where the detective shoots the assaissin) was the only special effect we needed, however we had a slight problem when trying to find a sutiable sound effect. In the computer I was working on I could there was no gun shot sound effect, so I had to imprevise. I found a sound effect of a wooded door slamming into something and I cropped the sound to make it sound like a gun shot. It sounds realestic and works well in our movie.

Foot steps

Foot steps are typical, yet very powerful convention of film noir movies, they emiphisis the charcters influence upon the movie, strong foot steps represnt a strong charcter. We wanted to have this feature in our film noir movie, however once it was filmed and editied and once we watched it over we realised that the footsteps could be well heard already and no special effect was needed.

Film Noir- Shoot Information

We shot our film noir movie on the 27th of February, at the start of the day we had cameras, lights, actors and things where looking promising. We were all optimistic about the how the filming process would go. However as the day wore on we had problems with our actors. we ordinary had Shannon Bott as the femme fetal, Connor Nash as the detective and Jake Baxter as our assassin. Shannon Bott then dropped our because of work commitments, Aryanna Wren was brought in, however she then had to drop because of school work. We then asked a whole number of people to try and act as the femme fetal. We had no-one by the filming time, and we were seriously contemplating suspending the shoot or getting one off us to act as the femme fetal. However Aaron got his sister to act in our film and she did a reasonable job considering she only had one hour warning. During our filming process we all thought that the filming worked well, I directed and filmed, Aaron helped me filming and Jamie used the lighting as he acquired a lighting certificate. The whole filming process lasted an hour and we were all pleased with our effort.

Props and Costumes

Trench Coat
This is the famed trench coat that is significant in all film noir movies. Our movie is no different and our detective will be wearing some sort of trench coat to add the film noir feel.

Gun

A weapon is a very traditional prop in film noir movies, this one is no difference. A gun is a very significant weapon as it represents a clean death, one bullet and its over. There is not a great deal of blood and not to much punishment. Our film noir movie will be no different, our assassin will own a gun and he will threaten our femme fetal with it.

Brandy

Brandy is a very traditional drink in film noir movies, it is usually drunk by the detective or the anti-hero. It will not be used in our film noir movies as it does not have any majorly in dept scenes with the deductive. It is usually used in a time when the character is struggling or in need of a push. In our film the detective is very much on top.

Suits

Suits are very common in film noir movies, most characters have to portray a smart sophisticated role where they have to always seem like that they are in control. Our movie will be no different, our assassin will wear the suit, to give him a smooth outlay and a controlled personality.

Cars

Classical American cars are a very conventional film noir trait, they not only represent wealth but also power and authority, as our film only contains the opening sequence of the film noir it does not introduce the characters personality enough to own this type of car.

Prelimenary Task- Production Schedual

The Widows Debt - Production Schedule

Prelimenary Task- Actor Bio's

Jake Baxter

Played the role of the Assassin Vincent Retegecho

Born on 15 November 1994

Lives in Stilton

Telephone Number: 01733244571

Student at Sawtry Community College doing A-Levels

Aged 17

He is a quite unassuming charcter, however he played the role of our assain very well as he has roamed around our set very quitly, inocently and very unassumingly. However though when it got down to it he performed his role very assertivly and very confidently and he was very smooth and nimble in his approch.

Connor Nash

He played the role of our detective Ray Stoner

Born on 11 August 1995

Aged 16

He lives in Yaxley

He is a student at Sawtry Community College studying for his A-Levels

Mobile Number: 07706429983

I had used Conor perviously in film called: The Transition

Connor has a quite and a very innconet personality, however he is very confident and very self assured. This is why I deemed him as the perfect candidate to play our very charsmatic detcive, who inevtably comes to our femme fetals rescue. I had knew of Connor's acting talents from my previous film and I knew he was very reliable and was confident in his ability to play this role.

Lorna Parmenter

She played the role of our flirtatious femme fatal, Venessa Poliavin

Born on 13 March 1998

She is 14 years old

She is a year nine student at Sawtry Community College

She is Aaron Parmenters sister

Telephone Number: 01733243056

She was our third choice actor, behind Shannon Bott and Aryanna Wren

Lorna is kind, friendly girl who has a very strong mentality and is very strong willed. This is why I was quietly confident that she could perform the job, even though I did not identify her as a strong actor at first.

Considering she had approximately one hour notice, she performed reasonably well in her role and she had a strong and confident enough personality to deal with the role. The only problem that we had with her was that she struggled with the America accent and that she struggled with the flirtatious scene.
